Bríd
Our brief was to bring together two masters, one of words and one of paintings to tell the story of Bríd, her life, loves, chronic illness and sudden death. The resulting book is a deeply personal and shared experience of love, death, friendship and meaning.
Tell a story with empathy, that ebbs and flows, expands and contracts through the words and images of Micheal O’Siadhail and Mick O’Dea. The poems, taken from One Crimson Thread a poetry series by Micheal are used together with original paintings by Mick. Crimson thread was therefore used to bind the book. The colour system used moves from dark grieving browns and navy colours to enlightened yellows and ochres (Bríds favourite colour).
Open binding allows for spreads to be opened flat ensuring a seamless reading experience. A second smaller poetry booklet accompanies the main book.
